Story snippet: The First Taste
She stared at it, the thing in her hand. It was warm, making her sigh. She had heard all about it, how it felt to some people; silky, smooth, strong, spicy, musky and every combination of it. She had led a very sheltered life and had never had the opportunity to try it. Now that she was no longer living at home, she could finally give it a try.
She brought it to her mouth, letting it rest against her lip. It was so warm and it smelled so wonderful, of something that was primal, dark and strong. She took a deep breath and parted her lips, letting it slide gently into her mouth. She swirled it with her tongue, savouring the taste and as it hit the back of her throat, she swallowed and sighed. She could barely contain her moan. It tasted like heaven.
She opened her eyes that she didn’t remember closing and looked up at the man standing before her.
“Did you like it,” he asked.
“I love it,” she said. “I didn’t know that coffee could taste so good.”
